Through your examination of the similarities and differences between the multicultural variations of the folktale, what conclusions can you infer regarding each culture's values?
In each of the stories it teaches kids that even when things are looking bad, something good will eventually come through. This is true because in the end of all the Cinderella tales, she falls in love and lives happily ever after.
I can conclude just because one is a princess does not mean that the wrold is all full of joy. along wiht that some cultures rely on christ to help them threw difficulties.
Most cultures have cows in them because cows are very sacred in many different places. A simularity that these stories have are that the stepmother is not very nice to cinderella. Another thing that i found strange were the trols ing the norway culture.
I made the conclusion that church is more important than a ball in Georgia, Serbia, and Norway. I also made the conclusion that cows and birds are important in each one of these cultures. I also learned that Denmark may see loneliness as one of the biggest signs of misfortune. I also concluded that each story still makes importance out of Cinderella and the prince getting married.
An evil step-sister is a big thing in all of these stories. So they assume that all step-moms are evil. They don't have a fairy god-mother but they have magical animals. They are also very religious because most of the stories take place at a church. You can also tell that they like to live out in the middle of know were.
Each culture has different values, you can tell this by the differences in their fairy tales. For each culture they intermingle their beliefs and lifestyles within the tale.
I noticed when looking at the similarities is that many cultures, that I can conclude that in all stories there was a story about love, with many struggles along the way. Many cultures had animals that recieved human like aspects and usually played a large roll in the story. They also proved to show that the girl who was acting as Cinderella was to be miserable in the beginning and get the fortune in the end. I feel that many cultures wanted to keep that similar so they could keep the entire moral of the story, but still change it to fit their culture. Another thing I noticed to be interesting was the location of events in all the stories. In some cultures, they were similar to the original version and had a ball. In others, they took place at a castle on an island and churches. In oonclusion, each story was told in its own culture, but in the end, they all had the same basic concept of the original version of Cinderella.
While reading about multiple different cultures and the way they look at folktales shows how diverse our world is. With the Cinderella stories there was a number of differences beween the version we know and the versions from all around he world. Some of those stories included killings, fish and a green knight which were not relivent to the story we know. On the other hand some of the stories had mean stpmothers, animals and marriage which relate to the story we know. Overall in society the diversity will continue on and be part of our lives every day.
Through my analysis of Folktale I can conclude that kings and princes are what every lady wants. Every culture also has mean people, birds, and usually cows. The differences with meeting the prince shows the variations of the story. Some of the Cinderellas went to church, a ball, or went on a journey. The bigger ideas about the story are all true but how they get to the happy ending is the difference.
Even though all of the stories were from very different parts of the world, they had the same general meaning and message. The stories, minus some details, were very similar and included a lot of the same plot. This show that even though cultures are very different, there is still some common ground with the ethics of the cultures. I think reading/learning more multicultural text would be very beneficial to everyone.
I can now conclude that throughout all of folktales that even if you face evil people respect and kindness is shown. Also no matter how terrible life gets there is always some object or person to help you out.Lastly once a person is helped out then they can truly live the amazing life that they deserve. But in some of the cases once that person is mistreated forgiveness is not always given. Finally just treating people with kindness is the moral of the story and if a person does this they will in return be treated great also.
The conclusion I got from the stories was that the step mom always wanted her daughter to be the one that married the prince and would do anything her will to stop the princess from doing that. It also seemed like the animals made an impact on the families. The animals also helped the person in need the most.
A person can infer that a cow must be of some significance to Georgia's, Serbia's, and Norway's culture because it is in all of the stories. The cow represented a part of the story which means it would have some value to the culture. In all of the cultures there was an evil step-mother, so there must be a meaning to that also. In a few of the stories there instead of the ball there was a church. In the cultures of Norway, Georgia, and Serbia a church must have a lot of meaning.
I made the conclusion that an animal can help symbolize something about that country such as the cows, birds, and the fish. The fish could be a good food source for the Vietnam culture. By reading the different cultures of Cinderella help me see that way different culture see the folktales. Also in every story of Cinderella that we read in class they all ended with her marrying the prince. Even with the different culture of story it still have a same conscept of our version of Cinderella. There is still a evil stepmother and a mean stepsister. Over all the Cinderella is still has the same meaning.
Many cultures have different variations of stories that we have read in our childhood. I can conclude that of all the Cinderella stories we have listened to and read have the same things but in a different manner.
I made the conclusion that birds are an important thing in a fairy tale but it seemed like almost every story had a bird that played a role in the story. The Cinderella story shows kids that there are going to be difficulties in life by showing that the princess had to overcome her evil step-mother in every story. It shows that if you can overcome this difficulties you can live happily ever after.
The universal theme of all of these works is that good can always triumph over evil. That beauty is appreciated all over the globe. Also, each of the stories incorporate trust in nature that ultimately helps the main character. However, each of the cultures added there own regional spice to there stories; Norway has trolls and Vietnam had ravens.
