  1. I believe that talking about the holocaust in some way honors the victims. just because your remembering either what they went through or who they were.

  2. "The victims of the Holocaust deserve to be honored"

I believe that the victims of the Holocaust should most definitely be remember for many reasons. For starters, they had to give up all their freedoms that we enjoy everyday and had to go through the pain of losing many loved ones. I feel that this event was so significant that every living survivor should get the upmost respect for getting the chance to live outside of the Holocaust. I could never imagine have to be kicked out of my own home and then being separated from my family, only to find out I got to live, but they weren't so lucky. Imagine living your life knowing you are going to never see those family members again. It must be chilling every time you see a fire place or any kind of fire. Just like the lady in the train car who was seeing illusions of the fire, many people must get chills whenever they have reoccurring events happen to them that remind them of the Holocaust. I think that every one who survived and died should get the most respect and memorial they deserve.

  3. I still belive that there will never again be another holocaust becasue people will remember what happened to the Jewish people and dont want that to happen again. another reason that this wont happen again would be people all over the world know about haw bad this was for the Jewish people and now dont want it to happnt to thier religious or racial comunity. If this does happen then many people will be shocked including me because many people feel sad for what the Germans had done to the Jewish people during the Holocaust and never want to hear about it or see this happen to another comuinty again.

  4. The U.S. government attempted to stop the Holocaust to the best of their ability.

I think that the U.S. government tried to stop the holocaust as much as they could. The U.S., and other countries like Russia, fought a war with Nazi Germany for four years costing us thousands of lives and unthinkable amounts of money. Considering that Nazi Germany was not our problem at that time, we were doing a pretty big favor for Europe. As for in the book, the only thing Weisel does is complain that the U.S. was "letting" the holocaust happen when we as a country were giving up so many things in our lives to try to stop Hitler. The book makes it sound like the U.S. did nothing, but I believe that the U.S. did attempt to stop the Holocaust to the best of its ability, without making the lives of Americans miserable as well.

  5. Some things are too horrible to talk about.

This statement is very open and can be interpreted many different ways. One like myself could interpret this as anything that could or has happened could be the subject of what someone is talking about. If you think about it like this then some things are too horrible to talk about. As Elie said he had a hard time writing the book because any language could not get the message across. Some things are too horrible because the words don't exist to describe them.

  6. "Somethings are too horrible to talk about."

After you have seen and witnessed the horrors and cruel beings of the Holocaust, such that Elie had, things like that may be too horrible to talk and speak about. I believe that, even though it may be hard to relive all those brutal memories, that you should let others around you know what you had to live through. All the tough times and hard obstacles that you had to face, talk about it.

  7. Before reading Night I put that I agree with the statement that there is never a valid reason to betray family. After reading Night I would probably say that sometimes there are valid reasons to betray family. At first Elie talked about how he would never leave his father, because they needed each other. Towards the end of the book he talked about how his dad was holding him back and that if he wanted to make it out alive, it was going to be hard with his dad dieing and take effort out of him, just to keep his dad safe and alive. There were other sons who betrayed their fathers because they also felt like their dads were holding them back. After reading Night I think that sometimes you have to betray your family, but only if you are in that bad of a situation.

  8. There is never a valid reason to betray family. family has loved you from the begginig and always helped you through good times and bad. betraying your family is selfish and all you care about is yourself. Family is family wheather you like them or not, they are family and you should care for them no matter what happends. It does not matter if they called the cops on you or let you leave after curfew. they are trying to help you because they love you and only want the best to come to you.

  9. Talking about the Holocaust honors the victims. Like the video that we watched with Oprah where she was talking to Elie. That was remembering the victims and getting others to realize all the people that were killed and what they had to go through. In the book they didn't talk about the dead because they were fighting for their own life. They did do prayers for the dead once in a while but they stopped believing in God because of what they were going through. The holocaust is something that should be talked about forever. Everybody should be aware of what pain people could put other people through. We need to honor the victims as much as possible.

  10. A country should never hide information from its citizens. I disagree, some things are better left unknown to the people of its country. If one knows every secret about ones country than the enemy would likly just as easily obtain the knoladge presented.

  11. I believe that holocaust survivors should be honored. I believe this because they went through thing that some people can’t even image of going thought as a little kid or even a grown man. They lost so many loves one going though this event in their lives and will never forget the one that died. I personally give all the respect in the world to the people that have survivors of the Holocaust. To hear here the story I couldn’t imagine being there. Even to talk about the Holocaust in remind that this happened and so many people died because of it. This is why I believe that they should be honored.

  12. The holocaust was a horrible event that we do not like to remember but that we must remember. It's an event that will live in infamy for a very long time. The cruelty done to an entire race of people is something that will live on and a story that needs to be told.
